Hillsdale College is proud to announce the signing of nine incoming freshman recruits to the 2019-2020 baseball team. These recruits are packed full with athleticism and enthusiasm eager to make a difference in the Charger program.
"We're very excited about this recruiting class. They'll add some key pieces to the program and maintain our roster balance in terms of depth and skill diversity. Our pitching staff will get deeper and more versatile, and the position guys have a good mix of speed and power, some with both," Hillsdale College Head Coach Eric Theisen said.
The incoming class includes: Joe Hardenbergh (Northville, Michigan), Nick Stepke (Rochester Hills, Michigan), Logan Simon (Dewitt, Michigan), Jeff Landis (Midland, Michigan), Drew Olssen (Camel, Michigan), Paul Brophy (Yuma, Colorado), and Chad Stevens (Westland, Michigan). Also joining the Chargers, enrolling in January, is Austin Mora, who will transfer in from Lakeland Community College.
Hillsdale enters the 2019 season as the defending Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament champions, and have qualified for the NCAA Tournament two of the past three years. The importance of elevating the level of the baseball program and maintaining integrity within players was key when recruiting this class.
"These guys have very high ceilings and with hard work, will be very dangerous players down the road. They're high character and high achievers who will be great additions to our team's culture as we continue raising the standard for this program and its future," Theisen added.
