Hillsdale Picked 3rd in Preseason Football Coaches Poll

The first rumblings of a new school year, a new athletic year rolled through the landscape Wednesday morning, as the first preseason poll of 2018-19 was released.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference released its 2018 football preseason coach's poll, and Hillsdale College landed third in the poll with 51 points. The Chargers received one first-place vote.

Defending regular season champion Ohio Dominican was picked as the preseason favorite by the nine conference coaches, getting five first-place votes and 59 poll points. The University of Findlay, who advanced deep into the NCAA Division II playoffs last year, was picked second and picked up two first-place votes.

G-MAC newcomer Tiffin was pegged fourth, followed by Walsh, Malone, Alderson Broaddus, Lake Erie and Kentucky Wesleyan.

The 2018 season opens at home for Hillsdale, under the lights, on Saturday, Sept. 1 when it battles Mercyhurst University.
