Siblings teaming up for success with the Hillsdale College men's and women's tennis teams has become a kind of unofficial tradition over the past several years. That isn't going to change anytime soon.
Siblings Sarah and Brian Hackman will be joining the Charger women's and men's tennis teams, respectively, starting in the Fall of 2018.
They both come to Hillsdale from Wauconda High School in Island Lake, Illinois.
Brian immediately moved into the No. 1 singles slot as a freshman in high school, and racked up a combined record of 93-14 through his first three seasons. His Chicago B18 ranking was 25th and his Midwest B18 ranking was 78th. He was his high school's first-ever state qualifier in singles, going 3-2 at the state level in 2015. He was team MVP amd team captain. He has also been recognized by his school for his leadership and academic achievements.
Sarah also played at the No. 1 singles flight throughout her entire prep career, compiling a total record of 109-20. She won at least 25 matches and didn't lose more than six in any of her four years at Wauconda. She was First-Team All-State, team MVP, team captain and was an NLCC All-Academic Scholar Athlete. Her most recent rankings were 19th in Chicago and 63rd in the Midwest.
The Hackmans will join fellow siblings Justin and Halle Hyman in the Charger tennis programs for the upcoming season. Both Hillsdale's tennis teams went undefeated in G-MAC play last year, each winning the conference regular season and tournament titles.
