Five days ago, Dana Weidinger hadn't pitched in a college softball game.
Today, she earned her first GLIAC honor.
Weidinger, a freshman pitcher, was named the GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.
She won two games in her first weekend with Hillsdale, going 2-1 at the prestigious NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida. She had an outstanding strikeout-to-walk ratio (13 to 2) and registered wins over Catawba Saturday and West Chester Sunday.
Weidinger had a 1.33 earned run average across her three starts and four appearances over the weekend. She hails from Bath, Ohio.
