Senior center Allie Dittmer had two of her best games of the season back-to-back last week. Monday morning, she was rewarded for her productivity.
Dittmer was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.
In games at Lake Erie and Ursuline last week, Dittmer totaled 51 points and 30 rebounds as Hillsdale went 1-1 in those road games. In Thursday's contest against the Storm, Dittmer set a season-high with 18 rebounds - 11 of them on the offensive end - to go along with 24 points. Her 11 offensive boards were a career-high and just three shy of the school record set by Megan Fogt in 2014.
Saturday, Dittmer stepped her game up even more in an 84-68 win over first-place Ursuline College. She shot 12-for-15 from the field in scoring 27 points while pulling down 12 rebounds in the Charger win. She grabbed eight offensive rebounds in the victory. This marked the first time this season she has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games.
Dittmer is the second player on the Charger team to be named G-MAC Player of the Week, joining teammate Brittany Gray, who won the award last month.
Through Saturday's games, Dittmer is second in the G-MAC, averaging 10.4 rebounds per game. Her .579 shooting percentage ranks her third in the conference as well. She played her high school basketball in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
