Hillsdale's volleyball team continues to excel on all fronts, as a team that reached the NCAA DII Tournament and won 22 matches in 2024 also posted one of the highest cumulative GPAs in NCAA Division II at the same time.

For the sixth straight season, Hillsdale was honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award on Monday. Awarded to a record 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs in 2025, the award honors teams that maintain a 3.3 or better GPA as a group for the entire school year. The AVCA first handed out the award for the 1992-93 season, and this is the 13th time in that span the Chargers have received the honor. Hillsdale also received additional recognition by making the AVCA's Team Academic Honor Roll, as one of just 32 NCAA DII programs to finish in the top 20% in GPA among Team Academic Award Recipients.

"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," says AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."

Hillsdale's volleyball team had an all-time great season in the classroom in 2024, posting the best team GPA in head coach Chris Gravel's 29-year history in charge of the program, with 14 athletes in the program posting a 3.3 or better GPA and earning Academic All-G-MAC honors. The Chargers also excelled on the court, winning the G-MAC regular season title for the seventh time in eight seasons and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight year while finishing with a 22-5 record. Hillsdale will aim for excellence again in 2025, with the season scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sept. 5. with a match against Anderson University in Lakeland, Florida as part of the Florida Southern Volleyball Classic event.
