Chargers beat Notre Dame (OH) 139-63 for fifth-straight dual victory

The Hillsdale College women's swim team remains undefeated after winning 139-63 over Notre Dame College on Saturday improving to 5-0 on the season.

The Charger distance swimmers had their first opportunity to swim the mile this season and freshman Elise Mason led the way by 14 seconds (18:15.94), and junior teammate Sarah Clark was second (18:28.12). In the 500 freestyle, senior Stefanie Walker finished second (5:43.91).

In the 200 freestyle, Hillsdale finished 1-2-3. Junior Leah Tunney had a close race but took the lead (1:58.21), just out-touching sophomore teammate Cecilia Guadalupi (1:59.33). Freshman Joanna Burnham finished third (2:05.26).

Tunney had another win the 200 backstroke (2:10.37), leading the way for another 1-2-3 finish for the Chargers. Sophomore Caroline Holmes finished second (2:13.57), and junior Sydney Slepian was third (2:17.60).

In the 200 IM, the Chargers finished 1-2-3, freshman Megan Clifford and sophomore Caroline Holmes had a close race finishing just .26 apart. Clifford (2:15.02), Holmes (2:15.28). Freshman Emmalyse Dickhudt finished third (2:22.80).

In the 200 butterfly, Clifford took the lead by almost 9 seconds (2:09.68), and senior teammate Anna Clark took second (2:18.32).

In the 50 freestyle, junior Marie Taylor was the only swimmer under 25 seconds (24.78), and freshman Lily Golladay finished in a close second place (26.12), less than a second ahead of third place. Taylor also took the 100 freestyle (54.27), and Guadalupi had a close second (55.39), and Golladay was third (56.96).

In the 200 breaststroke, the freshman led the way finishing first and second. Burnham had a strong lead (2:32.35), and Dickhudt finished second (2:34.66).

The 200 medley A-relay of Holmes, Dickhudt, Clifford, and Golladay won the event (1:53.50), just ahead of the Charger B-relay of Slepian, Burnham, Walker, and Taylor (1:55.28).

In the 200 freestyle relay, the Chargers exhibitioned their relays, but had the top two fastest finishes. The A-relay of Guadalupi, Mason, Briskey, and Pataniczek had the fastest time (1:44.74), and the B-relay of Tunney, Walker, Breay, and S. Clark had the second fastest time (1:47.67).

Hillsdale hosts G-MAC rival Findlay and Lewis next Saturday at 1 p.m. for its biggest test of the season to date.
