To keep his legacy alive, the second annual Stephen P. Rentschler Benefit will once again be held Friday-Saturday, Nov. 6-7, 2026 at Halter Shooting Sports Education Center with proceeds going toward Hillsdale College athletics.

Thanks to a dollar-for-dollar matching gift from an anonymous donor, all proceeds from the Rentschler Fund will be designated and benefit athletes in need through the John Tobin Fund.

Simply known as "Coach," dating back to his days as an assistant with the Chargers' football program, the 1978 grad continued to embody the spirit and enthusiasm for the school throughout his adult life until his unfortunate and untimely passing on Jan. 24, 2023 at the age of 67 while representing his company Sterling Cut Glass at the annual PGA Golf Show in Orlando, Fla.
