In honor of one of its greatest supporters, the Hillsdale College Athletic Department is welcoming back alums, friends, classmates and colleagues of Stephen P. Rentschler to the Hillsdale College campus on Oct. 17 and 18, 2025 for a weekend of community and fellowship in his honor.
On Friday, Hillsdale will hold a cocktail reception, silent auction and short program to honor Steve, a 1978 graduate of Hillsdale College and a loyal alumnus, former football coach, philanthropist and Hillsdale College Athletic Department Hall of Fame member. The program begins at 6 p.m. and all proceeds from the event and auction will go to the Tobin Fund for the Athletic Department.
The festivities will continue on Saturday morning, as attendees will be given the option of playing nine holes of golf as a group at The Hills of Baw Beese Golf Course in Hillsdale, or a 5-Stand shotgun shoot with clay targets at the John A. Halter Shooting Sports Center, also in Hillsdale. Both events begin at 9 a.m.
The event will conclude with Hillsdale's home contest against rival Northwood in football at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Attendees will get to watch the Chargers take on the Timberwolves from the Charger Champions Club tent in the north end zone of Frank "Muddy" Waters Stadium, with a meal and other refreshments provided.
