Chargers Dannhauser, Rees each earn All-G-MAC honors

2024-25 Women's Tennis All-G-MAC Teams

Both halves of one of the top doubles teams in NCAA Division II were recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Association on Thursday afternoon, as the conference announced its annual end-of-season awards.

Sophomore Ane Dannhauser was named to the All-G-MAC first team for the second straight season, while freshman Briana Rees earned second-team honors in her first campaign at Hillsdale.

The two make up Hillsdale's top doubles pairing, currently ranked 19th in the nation in NCAA DII, second in the Midwest Region, and first in the G-MAC with a 15-3 record overall. It's the highest ranking ever for a women's tennis doubles pairing in Hillsdale College history.

While the pair's success in doubles has been outstanding, both players have also performed at a high level in singles matches to help Hillsdale to a third-place finish in the G-MAC as a team and the No. 8 ranking in the Midwest Region currently.

Dannhauser is 20-9 overall on the season in singles play, with a 5-2 record in G-MAC contests at No. 1 singles and many of those losses coming to nationally ranked opponents. Rees, who's spent most of the season playing No. 3 singles for the Chargers, is 13-12 in singles play but 6-2 in G-MAC matches to help the Chargers to several close victories.

Both Dannhauser and Rees are hoping to help lead the Chargers to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2022. Hillsdale picked up a 4-0 victory over Thomas More in the G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinal round on Thursday morning, and play Tiffin tomorrow, Friday, in the semifinals in a likely must-win match for the Chargers' hopes of an at-large bid, as well as a spot in the G-MAC Tournament Final and a chance to contend for the automatic berth that goes to the winner.
