Chargers Higdon, Tenuta earn CSC Academic All-District honors

2025 CSC Baseball Academic All-District Teams

Two difference-making players on the diamond for the Hillsdale College baseball team in 2025 matched those accomplishments in the classroom, earning Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomores Daniel Higdon and Rocco Tenuta each earned the distinction for the first time from the CSC. In order to be considered for CSC Academic All-District honors, an athlete must be either a starter or a meaningful contributor, and carry a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA. Select Academic All-District honorees are entered into consideration to receive prestigious Academic All-American honors from CSC later in June, as voted on and selected by a panel of institution SIDs at the NCAA DII level.

Both players have been in the starting lineup since they were freshmen and have continued to consistently produce for Hillsdale over the past two seasons. Higdon has been the top weekend starter for the Chargers since he arrived on campus and had a solid second season in Hillsdale, starting 13 games with a 4-3 record, a 4.75 ERA and 44 strikeouts while often matching up with the opposing team's ace. His strikeout total and his 66.1 innings pitched both ranked second on the team among starting pitchers and tops among players slated to return in 2026.

Tenuta, meanwhile, has hit consistently since the fall of his freshman year and has been a bat in the top half of lineup in virtually every game since. The standout third baseman earned second-team All-G-MAC honors for his play in 2025, his first conference-level award, and he hit .286 with six doubles, five home runs and 37 RBIs. He drew a team-high 41 walks and led the team in on-base percentage in the 2025 season with .431. Tenuta is a major part of the team's plans over the next two seasons as a proven bat in the lineup and versatile infielder who can play multiple positions.

Both athletes are also excellent students, on track to graduate with honors from Hillsdale College at the halfway point in their collegiate careers. The pair should be leaders for the Chargers on a 2026 team that enters next year's campaign with real promise to chase the program's best season in a decade.
