Chargers add Taylor Segorski to coaching staff for 2026 campaign

The Hillsdale College softball team has its coaching staff set for the 2026 season with the hiring of Taylor Segorski as assistant coach.

Segorski will be the lead assistant under head coach Kyle Gross, who's entering his eighth season at Hillsdale, and will help manage all aspects of the program.

A Michigan native, Segorski comes to Hillsdale with multiple seasons of collegiate coaching experience, most recently with Division III Albion College, where she was the top assistant for two seasons with the Britons.
Prior to that, in 2023, Segorski also spent time as an assistant coach with Davenport University, a Division II program.

Along with her collegiate coaching experience, Segorski also coached at the high school level with her alma mater, Escanaba, Lowell, and Caledonia. She also spent time as the head coach and pitching instructor of the 906 Fastpitch travel team while in college and has spent four years prior to Hillsdale as a private softball instructor as well.

Segorski's coaching journey followed a four-year career as a player at Division II Grand Valley State University, where she played catcher and was a part of teams that went a combined 153-32 and made two NCAA DII College World Series.

She was recruited to GVSU from Escanaba in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where she was an All-State honoree and helped lead the Eskymos to a 100-14 record and two MHSAA D2 Final Four appearances in her final three seasons. Graduating in 2017, Segorski helped build an excellent foundation in Escanaba, as the Eskymos built off her class' success and won the program's first two softball state titles in 2018 and 2019.

Segorski graduated from GVSU in 2021 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a certificate in Sports Coaching, and completed her master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at GVSU in 2023.

Hillsdale plays a fall exhibition schedule that includes contests against NCAA DI Notre Dame and Michigan State, as well as defending NCAA DIII national champion Trine. Hillsdale will open the the 2026 campaign in February with five games in Texas, including a matchup with the defending NCAA DII Champions, UT-Tyler. You can find the full schedule here.
