The Hillsdale College women's basketball team couldn't overcome a tough shooting night on the road, falling to host Findlay 75-49 on Thursday night.
The Chargers shot just 32.1% from the floor in the defeat, never heating up as the Oilers took a double-digit lead into halftime and put the game away in the third quarter by outscoring Hillsdale 20-8.
Hillsdale got battered on the boards by Findlay, who outrebounded the Chargers 48-28, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second-chance points, nearly the entire margin of victory by itself.
Senior
Emma Ruhlman led the Chargers with 12 points, including two made 3-pointers. Hillsdale was 6 of 19 from beyond the arc, with the 3-pointer serving as the Chargers' most effective weapon in the contest.
Savannah Smith added 10 points off the bench and
Sydney Pnacek finished with five points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals, leading Hillsdale in rebounds, assists and steals on the night.
Hillsdale falls to 8-7 overall, 4-5 in the G-MAC with the defeat. The Chargers have now lost four straight on the road, and will be happy to return to the friendly confines of Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena, where Hillsdale is a perfect 6-0 on the season, to take on Ashland in a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
