Kuzma repeats as G-MAC Champion; Chargers place third as a team

Junior Allsion Kuzma continued an undefeated season on the cross country course with a dominant repeat individual title at the 2026 G-MAC Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park in Tiffin, Ohio, and helped the Chargers to a surprise third-place finish as a team as well.

Kuzma, the 2025 champion, controlled the race from start to finish for her third title of the season, winning by nearly 40 seconds in a 6K time of 20:57.2. As a low stick for the Chargers, Kuzma helped Hillsdale score just 85 points to finish third, behind champion Cedarville and just 10 points behind runner-up Ashland.

While Kuzma was named the G-MAC women's cross country Runner of the Year and a first team All-Conference honoree, she wasn't the only Charger to earn recognition. Senior Eleanor Clark earned a repeat first team All-G-MAC honor with an eighth place finish in 22:21.6 for the Chargers, while sophomore Mavis Banks earned second team All-G-MAC honors for the first time with a 17th place finish in 22:45.6, a new collegiate best.

Sophomore Taylor Brodeur placed 30th for the Chargers in 23:15.9, also a new collegiate best, and senior Savannah Fraley placed 32nd in 23:16.8 as well to round out a solid scoring pack for Hillsdale. Freshman Audrey Hartman placed 60th in 24:20.3 as well for the Chargers in a collegiate best race for her.

Kuzma is the first repeat G-MAC champion since Mackenna Curtis-Collins of Malone in 2020, and the junior and the Chargers will now turn their focus to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional held on Nov. 21 at the Wayne E. Danehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The top three teams in the regional advance directly to the NCAA DII Championship meet, set to take place on Dec. 4 in Lawrence, Kansas, while Kuzma also could advance as an individual as a top five finisher in the race as well.
