Chargers add Sean Balfour to Sports Medicine and Performance team

The Hillsdale College Sports Medicine and Performance team bolstered its ranks ahead of the 2026-27 school year with the addition of Sean Balfour as an Athletic Trainer earlier this summer.

Balfour will serve as the primary athletic trainer for the Hillsdale College softball team, and also will assist with athletic training responsibilities for the Chargers football program.

It's a short move to Hillsdale for Balfour, who completed both a Bachelors Degree in exercise science and a Master's Degree in Athletic Training at nearby Adrian College, less than an hour east, while working with several Bulldogs sports teams as an undergrad.

During his time at Adrian, Balfour worked with the Bulldogs' NCAA DIII men's ice hockey team during their run to the Final Four, as well as with the Bulldogs' football, women's basketball and track and field programs. He also spent time working at Hillsdale College as part of Adrian College's graduate training program, working with the Chargers' football and baseball teams, as well as with the Eastern Michigan University football team and the Bedford Township Fire and Rescue squad as an EMT student.

Along with acquiring his Michigan Athletic Training License, Balfour also is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, is American Red Cross CPR/AED certified, and a member of NATA, GLATA and MATS. He graduated with honors from Adrian College, earning his bachelor's in 2025 and his master's degree in 2026.
