Capital Projects Header

Top-quality, state-of-the-art, beautiful athletic facilities enhance the Chargers experience not only for Hillsdale’s student-athletes, but also for the entire College community, local fans, and competitors. Excellent athletic facilities also are important in the recruitment process, helping Hillsdale attract superb student-athletes. Softball Stadium

The current stadium, located behind Muddy Waters Stadium and adjacent to Lake Winona, was built nearly 40 years ago. Plans call for relocating the stadium to the northeast of the baseball field, where synthetic turf, a grandstand, stadium lighting, and other enhancements will give Hillsdale one of the finest collegiate softball stadiums at the Division II level.

INDOOR TURF PRACTICE FACILITY

This all-purpose building will not only provide an indoor practice venue during inclement weather for the football, baseball, and softball teams, but will also serve as a facility for club and intramural sports, as well as College and community events. A colonnade will connect the turf facility to the Sports Complex.

FOOTBALL STADIUM

With the track relocated to Hayden Park, the time is right to pursue renovations on the aging Muddy Waters Stadium. Plans call for a complete facelift that will include new bleachers, a new press box suite, a new scoreboard, and a new concessions/restroom area. The old Herrick Track will be removed as well.

Outdoor Track & Field - Phase 2

Since opening in spring 2024, the new track at Hayden Park has been put to good use, hosting the G-MAC Outdoor Track Championships and several large-scale high school track meets all in the span of a month. But more work remains to be done to elevate the track experience for athletes and spectators alike. The College plans to add restrooms, locker rooms, concessions, additional seating, ticket windows, and an athletic training space to the existing facility.

Arena Atrium

This project calls for a new, direct entrance to Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena from Oak Street. This atrium addition will feature ticket windows, restrooms, concessions, and a retail store for Chargers apparel and spirit items.
