2017/2018: Freshman year at the Phoenix Fall Classic held at University of Chicago, Mary scored in three events: 200 freestyle (15th), 400 freestyle relay (6th), 800 freestyle relay (7th), and also swam the 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay, and 200 medley relay. At the Calvin College Invitational Mary competed in the 200 freestyle with a lifetime best time (1:59.23), 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay (14th), 800 freestyle relay (11th), 200 medley relay (11th). During the GMAC Conference Championship Mary scored in all six events: 50 freestyle (12th) with a lifetime best time (25.19), 100 freestyle (12th) with another lifetime best time (55.16), 200 freestyle (11th), 100 backstroke (14th), 200 freestyle relay (3rd), 400 freestyle relay (4th).
