Final regular season GLIAC standings
For the 12th consecutive year, the Hillsdale College volleyball team will play beyond the regular season.
After a complex interpretation of a rare three-way tie that involved Hillsdale, Ashland and Ohio Dominican, it was ruled that the Chargers came out on top of the three-way tie, earning the #7 seed in next weeks GLIAC Tournament. Ohio Dominican is eighth and Ashland is out. Hillsdale will play GLIAC co-regular season champion Ferris State in the first round of the conference tournament Wednesday.
The match that ultimately swung the tiebreaker in Hillsdale's favor was its Sept. 23 win over #3 seed Findlay. The go-to tiebreaker area in this case was record versus the top teams in descending order. Neither Ohio Dominican nor Ashland had a win over a team that finished as high as Findlay in the final overall GLIAC standings. The Chargers did, and were rewarded by winning this three-way tiebreaker.
The Chargers defeated Lake Erie College 3-1 in the regular season finale Saturday evening, giving them a 10-8 GLIAC record. Hillsdale lost the first set 25-21, but came back to sweep the final three sets 25-18, 25-22 and 25-16.
Hillsdale is 12-13 overall entering the conference tournament.
Junior Haylee Booms, who had her best regular season in 2014, finished strong with 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage in the win. Two other players on the opposite end of the experience scale enjoyed very productive offensive matches.

Junior Emily Wolfert also had 9 kills and gave the team crucial points in a closely played third set.
