Women's Basketball Team Shoots Past ODU

Box Score

A warm second half shooting from a handful of players led the Hillsdale College women's basketball team to its fourth straight win to open the season Saturday afternoon.

Sparked by some on-target long distance shooting from players like Kadie Lowery and Kayla Geffert, the Chargers defeated Ohio Dominican University 70-54 in Columbus, Ohio Saturday afternoon.

Hillsdale is now 2-0 in the GLIAC and 4-0 overall, and will host Ashland in its home opener Thursday night.

Lowry buried three 3-point baskets and finished with a season-high 15 points for Hillsdale. Her shooting seemed to get the offense going into a much better flow in the second half than in the first half.

After Lowery's shooting display, Geffert took over. She scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half, and was 3-for-4 from the 3-point stripe in the win.

Hillsdale shot 50 percent from the field and was 8-for-13 from 3-point land in the second half, breaking open what was a close game. The Chargers outscored the Panthers 39-25 in the second half.

Senior Megan Fogt had a strong game in the paint, and finished with a team-high 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Fogt grabbed 5 offensive rebounds in the contest.

Senior guard Brooke Borowski came off the bench to score 9 points, while junior Kelsey Cromer added 6.
