The Charger volleyball team concluded a rough trip through west Michigan with a 3-0 loss to Ferris State in Big Rapids Saturday evening, dropping its record to 15-7 on the season.
Hillsdale will play its next three matches all at home against South Division foes, starting next Friday against Ohio Dominican.
The Bulldogs, 22-1 overall and ranked third in Division II, beat Hillsdale by scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-16.
Ferris State ran its offense efficiently against the Chargers, generating 46 kills as a team while committing just 7 errors, good for a .394 hitting percentage. Hillsdale had just 6 more kills than errors (25-19) in the match and hit .058 as a team.
Freshman Paige VanderWall had the best offensive match of anyone on the Charger team with 8 kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Fellow rookie Kara Vyletel had 5 kills.
Freshman setter Taylor Bennett led the team with 13 assists, while sophomore Brittany Jandasek led the defense with 14 digs.
