NMU Freezes Out Chargers

Box Score

Box Score

The Hillsdale College women's basketball team is happy to see the Upper Peninsula in its rear view mirror.

The Chargers suffered through a cold day shooting from the field in a 79-51 loss to the host Northern Michigan University Wildcats Saturday in Marquette. Hillsdale is now 15-8 overall and 11-8 in the GLIAC, and will be back home Thursday, taking on Ferris State University.

Hillsdale shot 22-for-65 from the floor (33.8 percent) and were uncharacteristically outrebounded in this game, 44-38. This was just the third time all season Hillsdale has been outrebounded by an opponent.

NMU closed the first half on a 15-4 run, leading 31-19 at halftime. The Wildcats improved their shooting from 30 percent in the first half to 48 percent in the second half, and outscored the Chargers 19-3 from the free throw line in the game's final 20 minutes.

Senior Kadie Lowery led the team in scoring for the second game in a row, connecting for 12 points in 24 minutes. Senior Megan Fogt had 6 points and 7 rebounds in 20 minutes of action, and Morgan Blair and Madison Berry each scored 8 points for the Chargers.
