For the seventh straight match, the Hillsdale College volleyball team recorded a 3-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory.

The latest win came in the Chargers' first-ever Great Midwest matchup with Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio. Hillsdale's win makes the team's record 14-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

Friday's set scores were 25-11, 25-16 and 25-15. The Arrows seized a quick early lead in the opening set, 5-2, but Hillsdale got on track and scored 23 of the set's final 29 points to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Although Ursuline improved its hitting percentage by 200 points in the second set, it made no difference as the Chargers used a balanced offense to maintain a lead throughout. Players like Maddie Clark came off the bench to make an impressive contribution in the final set.

Clark had all six of her kills in set 3, showing her improved power and confidence in the offense. Junior Paige VanderWall and senior Jackie Langer each had 7 kills and no errors to lead the offense.

Setter Lindsey Mertz directed the offense to a .400 hitting percentage for the night, and handed out 34 assists to go along with 7 digs and 2 service aces. Allyssa Van Wienen had 3 of the team's 10 service aces, and sophomore Taylor Wiese led the defense with 11 digs.

The Chargers committed just nine hitting errors in the match, five fewer than the Arrows, while generating 20 more kills in the match.
