The Hillsdale College women's volleyball team saw its G-MAC Tourney run end and the 2025 season come to a close in a straight sets loss to G-MAC Tournament host Cedarville in the semifinal round on Friday.
Hillsdale battled with the top-seeded Yellow Jackets, holding a 14-11 lead midway through the first set and pushing Cedarville in both sets one and three. Ultimately, however, the Chargers couldn't keep pace with the dynamic attacking prowess of the senior-laden Yellow Jackets, who hit .225 with 40 kills and also outdueled Hillsdale 9-2 in blocks to pull away for a 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 victory.
Senior
Emory Braswell led the Chargers with eight kills and eight digs in her final match, while freshman
Grace Drake also put up eight kills and also added 11 assists and six digs as well.
Adi Sysum, also a senior, finished with five kills in her swan song for Hillsdale, and senior
Chloe Pierce led the Chargers defensively with 12 digs. Freshman
Madison Peal chipped in 10 digs as well for Hillsdale, while senior
Josie TeSlaa led Hillsdale in assists with 17 to move into the top 10 all-time in the stat for Hillsdale, and also finished with three service aces.Â
The Chargers finish the year 14-12 overall and must replace all four departing seniors who kept the Chargers competitive in 2025, but are set to return most of their squad for the 2026 season, and will be looking to return to title contention next fall with better health, an additional year of experience for its young players, and a strong incoming freshman class helping the program to take a step forward in the new year. Hillsdale will be hoping to build off the momentum of a strong finish to the 2025 campaign that included an 8-2 record in the final 10 matches.
