Chargers Mason, Clifford to cap storied careers at 2025 NCAA DII Championships

2025 NCAA DII Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Psych Sheet

Two of Hillsdale College's best women's swimmers in program history will finish their careers on the national stage, the NCAA announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Seniors Megan Clifford and Elise Mason were among the field when the NCAA revealed its list of qualifiers to compete in the DII Championships from March 11-15 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IU-Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Both swimmers are no strangers to the national meet, as this is Clifford's third trip to the championships and Mason's fourth. The pair also have had plenty of success on the national stage, having both earned All-American honors in previous years.

Clifford made the cut in the 200 yd butterfly, her signature event where she was a first-team All-American with a seventh place finish as a sophomore in 2023 and an honorable mention All-American with a 13th place finish in 2024. The senior has a chance to do something unprecedented in Hillsdale College history at the 2025 Championships, as no Chargers swimmer has ever earned an All-American honor in three consecutive seasons. Clifford enters the meet seeded 21st in the nation.

Along with the 200 butterfly, Clifford also will get an opportunity to compete in the 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle by virtue of previous B-cut times in both events.

Mason earned her spot in the 2025 Championships by virtue of her time in the 1,650 freestyle, her best event and also the one where she earned honorable mention All-American honors as a sophomore in 2023 with an 11th place finish. The senior finished just one place off of a repeat honor in the 1,650 freestyle in 2024 with a 17th place finish, and will be looking to take another shot at the honor this season in her final event as a Charger. She's currently seeded 22nd in the 1,650 freestyle entering the 2025 DII Championships.

In addition to the 1,650 freestyle, Mason also will get to compete in the 500 freestyle and 1,000 freestyle thanks to previous B-cut times in both events.

The 2025 NCAA DII Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com, beginning with competition on March 11.
