2025 CSC At-Large Academic All-District Teams
Two Hillsdale College men's golfers capped the 2024-25 season on Tuesday with an honor that represents their achievements on and off the course.
Sophomore
Ryan O'Rourke and
Filippo Reale each earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators after strong performances both in men's golf and in the classroom this past school year.
In order to be considered for CSC Academic All-District honors, an athlete must either play for his team in a majority of regular-season events or the conference championship event, and carry a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA. CSC Academic All-District honors are awarded through the Academic All-America® program, started in 1952. Since then, CSC has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
Both O'Rourke and Reale were key players for the Chargers throughout the 2024-25 season. O'Rourke played in every single event for the Chargers this season, finishing the campaign ranked 44th among all golfers in the Midwest Region and posting three top 10 finishes, including a sixth-place finish at the G-MAC Men's Golf Championship as an individual.Â
Reale, meanwhile, came on strong in the spring portion of the season to play a key role for Hillsdale as it made its push to qualify for the NCAA Super Regional, including earning Hillsdale's first individual medalist honor since 2019 with a victory at the Music City Invite after setting a new single-round record for the Chargers with a nine-under 61 during that event.
Both athletes were extremely strong in the classroom as well, each posting a 3.5 or better GPA to meet the standard for the award. Reale graduated from Hillsdale in May Cum Laude with a double major in Applied Math and Financial Management, while O'Rourke will be entering his third year at Hillsdale this fall.
