2024-25 NCAA DII Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars
Two Hillsdale College men's golf athletes excelled not just on the course but also in the classroom in the 2024-25 campaign, and are reaping their just rewards for their performance.
The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its annual recipients of the NCAA DII Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar award on Tuesday afternoon, and Chargers sophomores
Ryan O'Rourke and
Robert Thompson were among the 207 recipients of the honor from 78 schools.
In order to be named an All-America Scholar, golfers must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78 for their entire season, and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, while also maintaining a high standard of moral character.
Thompson and O'Rourke both were Hillsdale's two most consistent players on the course in the 2024-25 season, helping the Chargers end a three year NCAA Super Regional drought. Thompson led Hillsdale with a 72.8 scoring average and four top 10 finishes, including runner-up honors at Hillsdale' home Get To Foundation Invitational on Sept. 17. He earned All-G-MAC honors for the second straight year at the end of the season.Â
O'Rourke was close behind Thompson in scoring with a 73.6 average and three top 10 finishes, including a sixth-place finish in the G-MAC Championships in April. Both players put together an impressive showing in the classroom to earn the award.
