2024-25 NABC Team Academic Award
2024-25 NABC Honors Court
A 20-win campaign on the court was just a part of the Hillsdale College men's basketball team's successful 2024-25 season, as the Chargers kept another impressive streak alive as well.
On Thursday, Hillsdale was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with the Team Academic Award, the seventh straight season the Chargers have received that distinction from the NABC. Seven players from the Chargers men's basketball team also were honored individually, receiving a spot on the NABC Honors Court for the 2024-25 campaign.
In order to earn the Team Academic Award from the NABC, a team's combined GPA must be 3.0 or greater, a mark the Chargers easily exceeded in the past year. To receive a spot on the Honors Court, players must be a junior or senior and possess a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA.
Hillsdale's men's basketball team easily exceeded the minimum GPA threshold to receive the Team Academic Award, keeping that streak alive while also extending an eight-season streak of finishing third or better in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings during the 2024-25 season.
Of the seven players representing Hillsdale on the Honors Court, three had previously won the award in past seasons. Senior
Charles Woodhams, the 2025 G-MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year made the Honors Court for a third straight campaign, while
Joe Reuter and
Cole McWhinnie each earned the distinction for a second consecutive year. Four juniors were first-time honorees for the Chargers --
Garrett Bolte,
Ashton Janowski,
Jacob Meyer, and
CJ Yarian.
Hillsdale was one of six G-MAC teams to earn the NABC Team Academic Excellence award in 2025, along with Ashland, Cedarville, Findlay, Kentucky Wesleyan and Malone. Of those six squads, only Hillsdale and Findlay have a streak of four or more years in a row receiving the award.
