The Hillsdale College women's cross country team acquitted itself well against one of the toughest fields it'll face all season at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday in East Lansing.

The Chargers finished 10th in the 17 team field, but behind eight Division I schools, including seven Big Ten programs, and the third-ranked team in NCAA DII, Grand Valley State, in a tough race where Hillsdale found some encouraging success.

Sophomore Allison Kuzma placed 18th overall and second among NCAA DII runners in the 6K race to lead the Chargers, and her time of 21:02.3 was a personal best by more than 30 seconds and the fastest race time by Hillsdale women's runner since All-American Liz Wamsley in 2023.

Juniors Savannah Fraley and Eleanor Clark were next across the line, in 106th place (22:48.2) and 107th place (22:48.7), respectively. Clark's time was a collegiate best mark for 6K. 

Hillsdale's next three finishers were freshmen, as Hillsdale's newest class stepped up in a big way in the race. Grace Tykocki took 151st (24:01.9) and Caroline Roberts finished 171st (24:46.6) in their first ever collegiate 6K race to round out Hillsdale's scoring runners, while Taylor Klimp placed 172nd in 24:47.4 in her first race at the 6K distance as well. Sophomore Victoria Stonebraker placed 174th in 24:50.4 for a new personal best as well for the Chargers.

Hillsdale is next in action on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Siena Heights Invitational in nearby Adrian, before heading to Kentucky for the prestigious Louisville Classic on Oct. 4.
