Chargers sign two incoming freshmen to join women’s tennis program next fall

As the Hillsdale College women's tennis team prepares to get back in action with home matches at the end of the month, the Chargers are also building for the future.

Hillsdale and head coach Melanie Zampardo will welcome two new athletes who signed to join the Chargers' squad next fall in Addison Trotter (Vero Beach, FL/Homeschooled) and Emily Muresan (Hartland, WI/Arrowhead) as Hillsdale looks to compete for conference and regional crowns in the next few years.

Addison Trotter is a talented prospect from the state of Florida, one of the hotbeds of tennis in America. A three-star recruit to tennisrecruiting.com, Trotter is a veteran of the USTA circuit with wins in level 4, 5 and 6 tournaments and over 40 matches played against other nationally ranked recruits. As a freshman and sophomore in high school, Trotter played in the No. 1 and 2 spots for her prep team and reached the state tournament both years, in doubles as a freshman and with her team to reach the state semifinals of the Florida tournament as a sophomore.

Trotter moved to club tennis full-time as a junior in 2024-25, playing in a pro level ITF tournament in 2024 and accumulating a strong record in several high-level regional events. She's also an excellent student, earning membership in the National Society of High School Scholars and serving as secretary of her high school's National Honor Society as a sophomore.

Emily Muresan comes to Hillsdale after a decorated high school tennis career in the state of Wisconsin, where she helped Arrowhead win back-to-back WIAA Division 1 team state titles in 2022 and 2023 as a No. 2 and 3 singles player, and led the Warhawks back to the state final match and a runner-up finish in 2024 while playing in the top spot. Muresan also excelled individually at Arrowhead, making the Wisconsin state final bracket in singles three consecutive seasons and finishing sixth in the state as a senior in 2025.

A two-time Classic Eight Conference Player of the Year, Muresan also excelled on the USTA circuit, also earning a three-star ranking from tennisrecruiting.com, winning Wisconsin U16 and U18 tournament championships along with multiple other USTA event titles. She's also a strong student, on track to graduate this spring with high honors from Arrowhead.
