Members of the Hillsdale College Shotgun Sports team continue to find success in individual competitions at the highest levels of the sport.
The latest honors came from the FISU World University Championships, held in Taipei, Taiwan on Oct. 27-31. Representing Team USA, five members of the 2026 Hillsdale College shotgun team worked together to bring home two medals in team competitions.
On Oct. 30, Team USA, made up of Hillsdale College competitors
Ava Downs,
Taylor Dale and
Marin McKinney, took bronze in the Women's Team Trap competition, breaking a combined 315 targets.
That medal was a great accomplishment for Team USA and Hillsdale's competitors, but it was surpassed the next night, Oct. 31, as Chargers
Taylor Dale and
Roman Barrett broke 34 targets to top the podium in Mixed Team Trap over teams from Italy and Spain, and bring home a gold medal for Team USA.
The gold medal was the first in several World University Games for Team USA in Mixed Team Trap, and among the top finishes for Team USA in all disciplines at the event.
Dale is a decorated international competitor along with Downs and a veteran of multiple international events involving Team USA, and Barrett and McKinney are no strangers to international competition as well for a Chargers team that regularly sends athletes to compete for Team USA.
The quartet will head back stateside and compete for the Chargers at their final event of the fall on Nov. 14, the Michigan-Indiana-Ohio College State Shoot, as Hillsdale looks for a strong finish heading into the winter break.
