Chargers' Ben Haas competes in the shot put on day two of NCAA DII Indoor Championships

A day after capturing a repeat NCAA DII national title in the weight throw, Hillsdale College senior men's track and field athlete Ben Haas wrapped up his indoor collegiate career by competing in the shot put at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Haas had a respectable finish in the shot put, finishing in 15th, one place better than his 16th place finish at the same meet in 2025, and with a further throw, putting down a mark of 17.08 meters on his third attempt.

Haas will exit his indoor career with four consecutive All-American finishes in the weight throw, including back-to-back national championships in the event in 2025 and 2026. While he's finished with indoor college competition, Haas still has one final outdoor season to look forward to this spring, and plenty to chase as he will look to repeat as the national champion in the hammer throw as well, and potentially add more All-American honors in the outdoor shot put.
