The Hillsdale College women's track and field team wrapped up the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships on Saturday with a fourth and final All-American.
Sophomore
Amelia Lutz had an impressive showing for the Chargers in the women's shot put, claiming third place in the nation on her final throw to help Hillsdale finish the meet in eighth place in the nation with 24.5 points, the Chargers' best showing as a team at a national meet since placing third in 2016.
Lutz earned a spot in the finals with a mark of 15.53 on her second throw, then moved up the list with improvements on her final two marks, throwing a 15.67 to better her first mark and then a 15.85 meter mark on her last attempt to leapfrog her way into third.
The All-American finish caps an impressive season for the sophomore, who had already earned one All-American honor with a fourth place finish in the shot put indoors in March. Lutz did one spot better at Emporia in May and added a second honor, proving herself to be one of the nation's top shot putters. Lutz also qualified for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw and has a bright future ahead in multiple events with two more years of eligibility in front of her.
Lutz joins teammates
Allison Kuzma, who won the 10,000m national title,
Tara Townsend, who tied for third in the pole vault, and Sofia Boozaaijer, who took sixth in the discus, in earning outdoor All-American honors for the Chargers in 2026. With Lutz, Kuzma and Boonzaaijer all slated to return for 2026-27 and a young team overall, this season could be just the beginning of a strong run for Hillsdale over the next few seasons.
