Chargers women's swimming adds four freshmen to roster for 2026-27 season

The Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team continues its forward momentum entering the 2026-27 season, with another strong signing class of incoming freshman for the new campaign this fall.

The Chargers had a strong season in 2025-26 behind stellar freshman and sophomore classes, setting several records and improving their point total at the season-ending G-MAC/MEC Championships. With the addition of four more talented athletes, Hillsdale is hoping the 2026-27 season will mark a return to the top of the conference podium, and more athletes competing at the 2027 NCAA DII Championships in March.

The class includes: Haven Ferguson (Dublin, NH/Homeschooled), Cali Kissel (Lowell, IN/Lowell), Isavella Stergiou (Veria, Greece/3o Geniko Lykeio Verias), and Campbell Witte (Columbia, SC/Covenant Classical Christian).

Ferguson is a standout competitor from southern New Hampshire specializing in the butterfly and backstroke, who helped her club, the Nashua YMCA Storm, to the 2025 New England Championship in both women's and overall categories. She won the 100 butterfly at that event, qualifying for the YMCA national meet, and also set the Granite State Swim Association record in the 100 back. Along with her success for the Storm, Ferguson also swam for the Kodiak Kingfishers, Peterborough Wave Swim Club, and the Keene YMCA Dolphins throughout her youth career, and is an excellent student and talented artist, winning the Dublin Community Foundation Scholarship and serving as the Featured Emerging Artist for the 2024 Monadnock Art Tour.

Kissel is a top high school swimmer for Lowell High School in Northwest Indiana, on the edges of Chicagoland. A backstroker and sprint freestyle, Kissel earned six All-Northwest Crossroads Conference titles and qualified twice for the IHSAA state finals. She broke eight school records during her time at Lowell and holds the program records for the 50 and 200 freestyle, as well as the 100 backstroke. Kissel also excelled for Munster Swim Club outside of her high school season, and is an excellent student, graduating with high honors this past spring and earning membership in her school's National Honor Society.

Stergiou is an international swimmer from Greece, in the northwest part of the country west of Thessaloniki, and a strong competitor in the backstroke. Swimming for the Aris Thessalonikis Swmming team, Stergiou excelled in Greece's 2025 Junior Nationals meet, with three top six finishes individually and a top six finish in a relay as well. Those strong finishes are part of an impressive youth career for Stergiou in Greece, with several titles and runner-up finishes to her name. Stergiou is a strong student who has received academic excellence awards for her work in the classroom and graduated with honors this past spring.

Witte is another gifted backstroker and sprint freestyler from the capital of South Carolina who excelled for Gamecock Aquatic and AC Flora this past year. An All-Region swimmer in South Carolina, Witte placed in the top three in both the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke at the Palmetto State Championships in March, among other strong performances. A talented student, Witte won the Scholar Athlete Award and the Eagle Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership, graduating with honors this past spring.

Hillsdale's four incoming freshmen will add to a talented and young squad the Chargers are building for the 2026-27 season, which kicks off with the team's annual Blue-White meet on September 26, 2026.
