The Hillsdale College Shotgun Team traveled to Bald Mountain Shooting Range on August 22
to compete in the Lieske Signature Series Stop #4 NSCA shoot. The event marked the end of the week of Fall training camp and the start of competition season. Each Charger shot both the Easy 80 and Elite 80 sporting clays course, battling the rain throughout the day. Over 270 competitors took part in this open match, one of the largest in Michigan.

The wet morning began with the Elite 80, the more difficult of the two sporting clays courses. Sophomore
David Texas Ardis hit 72/80 to tie for the 3
rd highest score of any competitor in Master class or the Junior concurrent. Senior
Davis Hay's score of 70 was the top in AA Class. In A Class, senior
Luke Johnson broke 69 of 80 to finish in 1
st with sophomore
Zach Hinze's 66 taking 3
rd. Freshman
Cameron Roberts took 1
st in B Class and Junior 2nd with 70/80 while junior
Marin McKinney finished in 2
nd place in C Class with a 59. Hitting 50/80, junior
Lucci Kern was 1
st in D Class with sophomore
Henrik Kiledal earning 3
rd with 46/80. Senior
Ava Downs was 2
nd place in the Lady's concurrent with 62/80. Senior
Madeline Corbin and freshman
Kinsey Duzan tied for Lady's 3
rd with 61/80.

Hinze broke the team's top score on the Easy 80 course with a perfect 80/80. Only 7 out of 236 shooters managed to break every target. Downs missed just a single target to finish with 79 out of 80 and tie for 1
st in A Class. She also was the top Lady competitor and tied for 2
nd amongst Juniors. Also hitting 79 were Roberts and junior
Nathaniel Meloro. They tied for 1
st in B Class and 2
nd place Junior. Dale was 2
nd place Lady with 77/80 while both Corbin and Duzan hit 76/80 to tie for 3
rd.

There were also awards for combined scores between the Easy and Elite 80. Leading the Chargers with 150/160 was Ardis, earning both a tied for 3
rd in Master Class and the highest score of any Junior. Johnson tied for 1
st in A Class with 147 targets while Hinze was 3
rd (and 3
rd Junior) with 146. Breaking 149/160, Roberts took 1
st in B Class and Junior 2
nd. Meloro (138/160) tied for 3
rd in B Class. Kern (123) and Kiledal (119) took 2
nd and 3
rd respectively in D Class. Downs' 141/160 was the top Lady score while Duzan and Corbin's 137/160 tied for 3
rd Lady.

Sophomore
Max Versluys also competed in the Michigan NSSA State Skeet Shoot from August 21-23. The event was hosted at Detroit Gun Club. He broke 98/100 targets in both Doubles and 12 gauge. In the former, he earned runner-up for the event as well as collegiate champion. In the latter, he was 3
rd in AA Class and collegiate runner-up. In 20 gauge and 28 gauge, Versluys hit 99 out of a possible 100 targets. He finished 1
st and AA Class and collegiate runner-up in 20 as well as event runner-up and collegiate champ in 28. After scoring 96/100 in .410 (earning 2
nd in AA class and collegiate runner-up), he was crowned as the winner of the biggest prize of the shoot: High Overall Champion. He hit a total of 392/400.
