Chargers' Tutt Carrico named G-MAC Offensive Football Player of the Week (Sept. 7-14)

Hillsdale College wide receiver Tutt Carrico continues to prove his breakout 2025 season was no fluke.

Although the junior has risen up the scouting report for opponents after a stellar sophomore season, Carrico continues to put up big numbers despite increased defensive attention. His latest performance in Hillsdale's 49-0 win over Wayne State on Saturday not only kept up his sizzling pace, but also has earned him honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Carrico was named the G-MAC Football Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, his first weekly conference honor in his career, and the Chargers' third weekly conference honor in the 2026 campaign to date.

The junior from Owensboro, Kentucky went over 100 yards receiving for the just the second time in his career in the win over the Warriors on Saturday, with five catches for 111 yards. He took three of those catches to the end zone for touchdowns of 24, 48 and 15 yards, and he also did damage on the ground, rushing two times for 47 yards as well.

With three touchdown catches on Saturday, Carrico became the first Hillsdale player with three touchdown receptions in a single game since former Chargers All-American and current Detroit Lion Isaac TeSlaa scored three times in a win over Walsh on Sept. 10, 2022. Carrico also is the only player in the G-MAC in 2026 with three receiving touchdowns in a game, and currently leads the G-MAC in receiving scores with four.

Carrico has played a major role in an epic offensive performance to date for the Chargers, as Hillsdale's 104 points through two games are the most in the 134 year history of the program to start a season. The Chargers will look to keep the offense performing at a high level this week heading into a critical rivalry matchup against G-MAC and in-state foe Northwood. The Timberwolves are also 2-0, ranked 25th in the most recent AFCA poll, and will be looking for a second-straight victory over the Chargers after a 48-19 win last season, while Hillsdale will be aiming for vengeance and to insert themselves forcefully into the G-MAC title picture. Kickoff for that contest is at noon on Saturday in Midland, Michigan.
