2023: Returned from a devastating injury in 2022 to reclaim his starting job at guard in 2023, appearing in 10 games and starting the final nine contests of the season...played a major role in the Chargers’ success in the run game along with fellow multi-year starters Nick Affholter and Eli Haidamous on the interior, helping the Chargers finish with the second-most rushing yards in the G-MAC and paving the way for a record-setting season by senior tailback Michael Herzog...strong student who was named to the 2023 CSC Academic All-District team for his work on the field and in the classroom…key part of an experienced returning offensive line in 2024.
2022:Â Took over as the team's starting center and put in multiple strong performances before an injury cut his season short after five games...aiming to make a full recovery and be back playing for the team in the 2023 season.
2021:Â Moved into the starting lineup at right guard and played a huge role in the team's success, starting in every game in 2021...formed a potent guard tandem with twin brother Nick Affholter, helping the Chargers to a strong performance on the interior line...earned the team's Big Stick Award for the week of Oct. 16 against Lake Erie...continued to see play as a fullback in goal line situations, helping to pave the way for multiple Hillsdale rushing touchdowns in short-yardage scenarios...expected to be a key piece on the Charger offensive line in his third year this fall.
2020-21:Â Backup center for the Chargers in the Spring 2021 season, seeing game action in jumbo packages as a fullback in goal line situations.
High School: Four-year varsity player and star both offensively and defensively on a Reading High School (MI) team that won back-to-back MHSAA Division 8 state championships in 2018 and 2019…helped lead the Rangers to a 35-4 record over the last three seasons and three straight Big 8 championships, earning four All-Conference honors and three All-State honors over his career…played middle linebacker at Reading and finished as the program’s all-time leading tackler with 448 for his career, with six interceptions and over 10 forced fumbles…earned a spot in the MHSFCA All-Star game… co-valedictorian at Reading, a member of the National Honor Society, and earned 11 Academic All-Conference honors in three sports…joined in the Class of 2024 by his twin brother, Nick, who also was a star at Reading…his father, Brad, played at Hillsdale College in the mid-1990s, earning GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year honors in 1996…parents are Brad and Darcy Affholter.
