Biography

2023: Named Hillsdale’s top offensive lineman for the second straight season and earned first-team All-G-MAC honors after another stellar campaign, starting 10 games at center…Named Hillsdale’s Offensive Player of the Week twice, against Michigan Tech on Sept. 9 and against Findlay on Sept. 23…linchpin of a top-notch interior line that included brother Ben Affholter and Eli Haidamous that helped the Chargers finish with the second-most rushing yards in the G-MAC while paving the way for a record-setting season by senior tailback Michael Herzog…should be one of the top offensive linemen in the G-MAC again in 2024.

2022: Foundation piece of Hillsdale's offensive line in 2022, starting all 11 games and earning third team All-G-MAC honors for his play, the only Chargers offensive lineman to earn all-conference recognition...began the season at right guard but switched to center after five games due to an injury to the starter at that position, and continued to excel despite never playing center at the college level before...named the program's Outstanding Offensive Lineman for 2022...was twice named the team's weekly Offensive MVP for his play against Kentucky Wesleyan (Oct. 1) and Findlay (Oct. 22)...will be an important player in Hillsdale's 2023 offensive plans.

2021: Started every game for the Chargers at left guard in 2021, developing into one of Hillsdale's most impactful linemen up front...teamed with twin brother, Ben, to lock down both guard spots and help pave the way for a solid interior performance by the Charger offensive line in 2021...one of only two Chargers to earn multiple team offensive player of the week honors in the 2021 season, earning the recognition for his performances in wins over Missouri S&T (Sept. 25) and Kentucky Wesleyan (Nov. 6)...key building block for a Hillsdale offensive line that returns three starters for the fall 2022 season.

2020-21: Forced into the starting lineup as a true freshman at left guard due to injuries; made three starts for the Chargers and gained steam as the Spring 2021 season wore on...earned Hillsdale offensive player of the week honors for his performance in the Chargers' home loss to Tiffin (April 3)...part of a unit that helped pave the way for back-to-back 200+ yard rushing games in road wins over Walsh (April 10) and Ohio Dominican (April 24)...expected to compete for a starting spot in the fall 2021 season.

High School: Four-year varsity player and star two-way lineman on a Reading High School (MI) team that won back-to-back MHSAA Division 8 state championships in 2018 and 2019…helped lead the Rangers to a 35-4 record over the last three seasons and three straight Big 8 championships, earning four All-Conference honors and three All-State honors over his career…as a senior, totaled 115 pancakes on the offensive line and 108 tackles on the defensive line, and was named the Division 7-8 Player of the Year by the Associated Press as well as the Big 8 Conference MVP, and earned a spot in the MHSFCA All-Star game…co-valedictorian at Reading, a member of the National Honor Society, and earned 11 Academic All-Conference honors in three sports…joined in the Class of 2024 by his twin brother Ben, who also was a star at Reading…his father, Brad, played at Hillsdale College in the mid-90s, earning GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year honors in 1996…parents are Brad and Darcy Affholter.
