Biography

2024: Took on a bigger role on special teams and as a backup linebacker, playing in eight games...had his first career multi-tackle game in a road contest at Findlay on Sept. 28.

2023: Appeared in four games for Hillsdale, primarily on special teams but also as a defensive substitute…recorded a pass breakup against Michigan Tech on Sept. 9…won the team’s Big Stick Award for his impactful play against Northwood on Sept. 30.

2022: Redshirted...named Hillsdale College Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3...will have four seasons of eligibility remaining entering the 2023 season.

High School: Top safety for a Caledonia program that won multiple games in the MHSAA Division II playoffs in both 2020 and 2021, including a regional final appearance in 2021...was a team captain for the Scots on both of those teams and honorable mention All-OK Red as a senior, as well as a two-time Academic All-State honoree...member of the National Honor Society and a Meijer Scholar Athlete award recipient, as well as top 10 in his graduating class at Caledonia...served his community as a tutor to elementary school children and a youth football referee as well as other activities...parents are Daniel and Rachel Kowatch.
