Brad Otterbein will begin his 14th season with Hillsdale College in 2025, and his second as the team's offensive coordinator.

In his first season in charge of Hillsdale's offense in 2024, Brad helped the Chargers to a prolific season on the ground, as Hillsdale led the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in rushing yards per game on the way to a winning campaign, while developing a foundation for the future with several young players playing major roles in the team's success.

Brad's football experience and ties to Hillsdale start from an early age, as he was an excellent high school quarterback at nearby Hillsdale High School. A star for the Hornets, he led the program to its first-ever playoff win and district championship in his senior year in 2005, and then committed to Hillsdale College to play for his father, former head coach Keith Otterbein, who had taken the reins of the program in 2002.

In five years as a player with the program, Brad served as the primary backup to two of the greatest quarterbacks in Hillsdale history: Mark Nicolet ('08), who still holds the single-season passing touchdown record, and Troy Weatherhead ('11), who is in the top three in every major passing record at Hillsdale and holds the single-season and career completion records.

At the conclusion of his playing days, Brad stepped into coaching, returning to Hillsdale in 2012 as the team's quarterbacks coach, where his experience with the position and of playing alongside some of the best quarterbacks the Chargers have ever produced paid immediate dividends.

During his tenure, he helped recruit and develop several prolific quarterbacks, most notably Chance Stewart ('19), a 2018 All-American who displaced Nicolet and Weatherhead at the top of several single-season and career record lists and added his name to the list of all-time Charger greats.

Prior to the 2024 season, Brad was promoted to Hillsdale's offensive coordinator under new head coach Nate Shreffler, and continues to lead the quarterback room as well.

Football has always been a family affair for Brad Otterbein. He played for and then coached for more than a decade under his father, Keith, who was head coach of the Chargers for 22 seasons until his retirement after the 2023 campaign. For his entire tenure at Hillsdale, Brad also has coached with his older brother Steve, who is currently the team's defensive coordinator.

A 2010 graduate from Hillsdale, Brad earned his degree in marketing management. Brad lives in Hillsdale with his wife Stacey, and sons Connor and Theo. His recruiting territory is West Michigan.
