Biography

2023: Veteran who’s developed into an impact player on special teams for the Chargers…won the team’s Every Player Every Play award for his performance against Michigan Tech on Sept. 9, the team’s Special Teams Player of the Week award for his performance at Walsh on Nov. 4, and the team’s Big Stick Award for his impactful play against Ohio Dominican on Nov. 11…recorded a career-high seven tackles against Findlay on Sept. 23…finished with five tackles and a pass breakup in Hillsdale’s win over Northwood on Sept. 30…named to the One Play Warrior Club for his work on special teams across the season.

2022: Appeared in three games as a special teams player for the Chargers.

2021: Did not see game action.

2020-21: Did not see game action...was named Hillsdale College Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week for the week of the game against Walsh (April 10).

High School: Starting cornerback on Grand Rapids Catholic Central (Michigan)’s 2019 MHSAA Division 4 state championship team, and part of two state titles in football in his three-year varsity career…finished his senior season with 14 pass breakups and five interceptions, including an INT in the Cougars’ 44-0 win over Detroit Country Day in the state championship game…also a member of Grand Rapids CC’s state runner-up baseball team in 2019…was a member of the National Honor Society in High School, and graduated Cum Laude with a 4.32 GPA…parents are Steve and Kathie Southerington.
