Biography
2024-25: Valuable backup guard who played in all 30 games and averaged 13 minutes a contest...shot an impressive 42% from 3-point range, including going 3 of 4 from 3 in wins over East-West University (Nov. 13) and Kentucky Wesleyan (Feb. 1)...set a new career-high with 13 points against Kentucky Wesleyan helping the Chargers to victory in an overtime thriller that included a career-high 27 minutes played...10 points on 75% shooting from the floor in a Feb. 15 win over Northwood...14 multi-assist games, including a career-high seven assists at Tiffin on Feb. 13...named the NABC Honors Court for a second straight season for his academic performance.
2023-24: Earned a bigger role off the bench for the Chargers as a backup point guard, appearing in all 28 games...four double-digit scoring contests, including setting a new career high with 12 points and four 3-pointers in 13 minutes against Saginaw Valley (Nov. 12) and then matching that performance again against the Cardinals on Dec. 19 and against Findlay on Feb. 29...also matched his career high with four 3-pointers in a 4 for 5 shooting performance against the Oilers in a home victory...had five points and a career-high seven assists and five rebounds in Hillsdale's win over Grace Christian on Dec. 30...earned a spot on the NABC Honors Court for his academic performance in the 2023-24 school year.
2022-23:Â Saw his first consistent action for the Chargers off the bench, appearing in 14 games...scored a career-high five points and added two assists in the first extended minutes of his career in a 78-51 win over Trevecca Nazarene (Dec. 3)...in line for a bigger role in 2023-24 as Hillsdale looks to fill holes created by graduation.
2021-22:Â Redshirted in 2021-22...will have four seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2022-23 season.
High School: Four-year starter and sharpshooting point guard who helped lead Toledo Christian to three straight OHSAA Division IV district finals...earned recognition as the District 7 Player of the Year and was first-team All-Toledo Area Athletic Conference as both a junior and a senior, earning special mention All-State as a junior after leading the Eagles to a TAAC title, and third-team All-state as a senior...was selected to the Ohio North-South All-Star Game as a senior...graduates from Toledo Christian as the school's all-time leader in points (1,318), assists (381), 3-point percentage (44.0%), free-throw percentage (85.4%), 3-point field goals made (246) and free throws made (246)...played AAU basketball with the Ohio Buckets and the All-Ohio Gold...accomplished student; was a member of the National Honor Society and earned the CLT and ASCI Distinguished Scholar Awards...active volunteer in TC Cares all four years of high school and a member of the Diversity, Equity and Belonging Committee at Toledo Christian, as well as a student senator for two years...Parents are David an Joy McWhinnie.Â
