A Hillsdale native who starred in multiple sports at Hillsdale High School, Hayley Maystead has returned to her hometown, joining the Hillsdale College women's basketball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2020-21 season.
Maystead comes to Hillsdale College after spending the last two years as an Athletic External Relations Graduate Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where she aided the Ranger athletic department in fundraising, alumni relations and managaing corporate partnerships.
She got the job at Parkside after a successful career as a player in Division II basketball. Maystead spent two seasons at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri before transferring to Parkside. As a Ranger, Maystead became a full-time starter and a key player as a senior in the 2017-18 season, averaging 10.5 points per game and leading Parkside in rebounds (187) and steals (45).
Maystead started her career at Hillsdale High, where she set a school record for points in a single season (462) as a senior, earning all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors, while leading the Hornets to a district title in girls basketball in 2012. She was twice selected to the Hillsdale County Dream Team, and earned second-team Jackson Area Dream Team recognition as a senior. Maystead also was a standout volleyball player for the Hornets.
The former Rangers standout graduated from Parkside in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Sport Management and Communications. She earned her Masters of Science in Sport Management from Parkside in 2020.
