Starting its season at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, the Hillsdale College men's cross country team posted strong finishes on an unseasonably cool day.

Senior Joshua Mirth, an All-American contender entering the season, started the season with a seventh place finish, posting a time of 24:43 at the Forest Akers East Course.

Seniors Luke Hickman and John Butler also posted strong finishes with times of 25:51 and 25:58 respectively.

Sophomore Caleb Gatchell finished with a time of 25:54. Sophomore Joseph Newcomb posted a time of 26:16.

Freshman Anthony Wondalal started his collegiate career, finishing with at time of 26:44.

The team will continue their season at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana on October 3 with a 2:00pm start.
