Men's Cross Country Team Finishes 8th at GLIAC Championships

The Charger men's cross country team finished in eight place at the 2015 GLIAC Men's Cross Country Championships, held at the Kensington Metro Park in suburban Detroit Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers had a team score of 179 points. Grand Valley State blew away the competition, winning the meet with 24 points. Malone was second with 100 points, followed by Saginaw Valley State with 116.

Hillsdale's top two runners finished just three-tenths of a second apart. Junior Joseph Newcomb was 19th overall with a time of 25:07, with sophomore teammate Anthony Wondaal just one spot behind.

Taking third for the Chargers was Caleb Gatchell, who was 24th overall with a time of 25:30.2. Sam Phillips and Luke Daigneault rounded out the top five runners for Hillsdale.

The Chargers next compete at the Midwest Regional Saturday, Nov. 7 in Evansville, Indiana.
