Men's Cross Country Finishes 9th at Midwest Regional

Results

Competing in the toughest regional in the nation, the Hillsdale College men's cross country team finished in ninth place at the Midwest Regional Cross Country Meet, held in Evansville, Indiana Saturday. The Chargers finished with 231 team points at the meet.

Once again, Grand Valley State won the meet, easily beating the competition with 43 points. Host Southern Indiana was second with 122, followed by Wisconsin-Parkside (126), Malone (166) and Walsh (212).

Junior captain Joseph Newcomb was Hillsdale's top runner at the meet, placing 10th overall with a time of 31:15.4, barely missing out on an NCAA qualifying berth. However, he did earn First-Team All-Region honors with his race.

Sophomore Anthony Wondaal was the team's No. 2 runner, taking 31st with a time of 31:49.8. The other scoring runners for Hillsdale were Caleb Gatchell, Luke Daigneault and Sam Phillips, who finished 41st, 72nd and 77th, respectively.

This concludes the 2015 men's cross country season for the Chargers, but with no seniors on the roster, the future appears very bright for the program.
