The Hillsdale College men's cross country team ran against some big-time competition Friday afternoon at the Spartan Invitational.
The golf course at Forest Akers is a frequent stop for the team, and the Chargers got to see where they stacked up against Division II power Grand Valley State, but Big Ten teams like Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois.
No official team scores were kept at this meet.
Team captain Joseph Newcomb was the Chargers' top runner at the meet, placing 31st overall with a time of 25:50. Caleb Gatchell checked in at 56th overall with a mark of 26:26. The team's No. 3 runner was Anthony Wondaal, who was 97th with a time of 27:09.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will compete on both Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Notre Dame Invitational and the Greater Louisville Classic, respectively.
