Men's Cross Country Finishes 3rd at GLIAC Championships

Results

The Hillsdale College men's cross country team finished third at the GLIAC Championship meet Saturday in Big Rapids, Michigan. The team's 111 points trailed that of Grand Valley State University and Saginaw Valley State University.

Senior Joseph Newcomb took eighth-place overall with a time of 25:18.6. Junior Anthony Wondaal finished 15th with a time of 25:35.5.

Senior Caleb Gatchell ran a time of 25:50.2 for 24th-place and freshman Joseph Humes took 28th with a time of 26:11.8.

Humes was recognized after the meet, being named the 2016 GLIAC Freshman of the Year. He was the highest-placing freshman in the meet.

Junior Nathan Jones finished with a time of 26:37.3. Junior Luke Daigneault crossed the finish line with a time of 26.43.2 and sophomore Nick Fiene followed with a time of 26:43.8. Sophomore Miles Garn ran a time of 26:50.2 and freshman Eric Poth recorded a time of 26:58.0. Junior Sam Phillips ran a time of 27:14.3.

The team will next compete at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet Nov. 5.
