The long-awaited debut of the Hillsdale College men's tennis team took place in suburban Chicago Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers suffered a 6-2 setback to Lewis University, dropping them to 0-1 overall on the 2016 season.

Hillsdale went winless in the singles flights, with Gianpiero Placidi going to a third set.

Placidi teamed up with John Ciraci for a victory at No. 2 doubles, by a score of 9-8 (3-0). At No. 3 doubles, Jerry Hewitt and Zach Rabitoy were 8-3 winners.

Hillsdale will make its home debut next Saturday, when it hosts Daemen College at 11 a.m. inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.
