Men's Tennis Team Splits Matches in South Carolina

Match 1: Hillsdale 6, Erskine 3

Match 2: Flagler 8, Hillsdale 1

The Hillsdale College men's tennis team is getting in some good work in the South Carolina sun this week.

The Chargers were 6-3 victors over Erskine College Wednesday afternoon, improving their record to 5-4 on the season.

Freshman Justin Hyman was a double winner, enjoying one of his better days of the season. At No. 1 singles, he was a 6-3, 6-2 winner, and teamed up wtih sophomore Dugan Delp at No. 1 doubles for an 8-3 win.

Zach Rabitoy and Jerry Hewitt also notched two wins each on the day. They joined forces at No. 3 doubles to notch an 8-3 win, while Rabitoy won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Hewitt was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 6 singles.

Gianpiero Placidi was awarded a win at No. 3 singles when his opponent retired. Placidi was up 3-2 in the first set at the time the match was stopped.

Thursday, Hillsdale suffered an 8-1 loss to 14th-ranked Flagler.

The Chargers' lone winner Thursday was sophomore Dugan Delp, who played an exceptional match in defeating the #34-ranked player in the country, Flagler's Lukas Storck, 6-4, 6-2.
