The Charger men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat to Wayne State University in Detroit Saturday, though several of the matches were very closely contested.
Matches at the top of the singles and doubles flights were as even as you can get. Freshman Justin Hyman, playing terrific tennis of late, lost a heartbreaker 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), 10-6 at No. 1 singles to Wayne State's Clement Charrier. Hyman and sophomore Dugan Delp dropped an 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles.
The No. 2 doubles team of John Ciraci and Gianpiero Placidi played a marathon match at No. 2 doubles, eventually losing 9-8 (11-9).
